Pontiac Agricultural Society Celebrates Completion of Landmark Entrance and Digital Sign
SHAWVILLE, Quebec — September 18, 2026
The Pontiac Agricultural Society is proud to announce the completion of its new landmark entrance and digital sign at the Shawville Fairgrounds—a significant investment in community communication, regional tourism and economic development.
Completed during the 170th anniversary year of the Shawville Fair, the new entrance honours the Society’s long agricultural history while creating a welcoming and highly visible gateway to one of the Pontiac’s most important community gathering places.
The digital sign provides a modern, centralized platform for promoting community events, sharing important public information, and highlighting local organizations. Its messages can be updated regularly, allowing timely and relevant information to reach residents and visitors throughout the year.
“The new entrance is a lasting tribute to the 170-year legacy of the Shawville Fair and to the generations of volunteers, exhibitors and community members who have contributed to its success,” said Elwyn Lang, Project Manager for the Pontiac Agricultural Society. “The digital sign will also help us better connect with the community and promote the many events, and organizations that contribute of our area.”
The fairgrounds serve as a regional hub that includes the local arena, the Lions Community Hall and a major event venue. Approximately 55,000 people attend the Shawville Fair annually, while tens of thousands more visit the site throughout the year for arena activities, community programs and special events.
By increasing awareness of local activities and services, the digital sign is expected to encourage event attendance, support tourism and local organizations, and strengthen community participation. Its flexible design will allow the sign to remain relevant as the communication needs of the community continue to evolve.
This project forms part of the Pontiac Agricultural Society’s broader efforts to improve the year-round use of the fairgrounds, preserve the agricultural heritage of the region and strengthen the site’s role as a cultural, recreational and economic asset.
